The storm, do we bask or are we shattered?
In my life I have found circumstances (good or bad) can make us better. This time of year, everyone is discussing what the new year may bring. I am reminded of the birthday toast given by the Count of Monte Cristo. He says, "Life is a storm, my young friend, you will bask in the sunlight one moment and be shattered against the rocks in the next. What you do in that moment will make you a man."
We have a choice in those moments. We can lose hope and give in. We can blame others, an ailment, or bad luck. The difference in living for God, living for the Kingdom now, is understanding our strength comes from God, He has a purpose, a plan. All circumstances (good or bad) have something to teach us.
"Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails (Proverbs 19:21)."
The principles taught in scripture (Faith, Hope, and Love), will prevail through all circumstances. It is not the destination, but the journey. Often we believe the end result is the standard that determines success. I believe it is the decisions we make in those circumstances that determine victory. Honor, integrity, kindness, and joy are staples of the man or woman of faith.
We already know the end result (victory) regardless of circumstances out of our control. Our victory is in Grace, it is bound in the Kingdom of God we strive to build here on earth. Each brick is laid through our consistent execution of the principles found in scripture.
Beginning on January 10th we will discuss how God teaches through all circumstances, especially the painful ones. We will learn to live better!
We will also begin discussing our fund raiser for February! The dinner we provide every year. It will be a lot of fun!
In His service and yours,
